Who Has The Best Pizza In Torrington CT? We Built A Tool To Find Out.

The top contenders for best known pizza in Torrington

Pizza in Torrington CT is not a simple question. This city has almost as many pizza options per square mile as New Haven, and New Haven is considered the pizza capital of the world. If you have lived here long enough, you already know that Torrington takes its pizza seriously. But with that many options, the real question becomes harder to answer: who actually has the best specialty pizzas in Torrington?

We think the answer might be sitting right next to each other on Main Street.

Sasso's Coal Fired Pizza — 52 Main Street

Sasso's is one of the most unique pizza experiences in Northwest Connecticut. Coal fired pizza operates at temperatures that a conventional oven simply cannot reach, and the result is a crust with a char, a snap, and a depth of flavor that is genuinely different from anything else in the city. The outdoor seating fills up fast on weekend nights. There is sometimes a wait. That does not happen at a place that is doing anything less than something special.

Pizzeria Marzano — 1315 East Main Street

The story behind Pizzeria Marzano is worth knowing before you order. Owner John was backpacking through Europe in college, ran low on funds, and walked into a pizzeria looking for work. They gave him the opportunity. He spent that time learning authentic techniques from the people who had been doing it for generations, brought that knowledge back to Torrington, and opened Marzano's. Every ingredient is imported from Italy. The wood fired oven does things to a crust that a conventional oven cannot replicate.

Two different styles. Two different origin stories. Both making a serious case for the best specialty pizza in the city.
