Kaylan's Kitchen: Corey's Torrington Story, Built One Dish at a Time
I stopped into Kaylan's Kitchen in Torrington for the first time recently, and got the chance to chat with Corey, the owner, when she stepped out from the kitchen to say hello.
It took about thirty seconds to see how hard of a worker she is. There is something genuinely humbling about watching an owner give everything she has, every single day, to make sure her guests walk away with the best possible experience. While I waited for her to come out, I looked around the space, and every inch of it felt like proof of that dedication, to her craft, and to the community she has built her business in.
Corey is a Torrington native, which honestly did not surprise me at all. It seems like so many of the best business owners in this town share that same story, people who grew up here, left or stayed, and eventually decided this is exactly where they wanted to build something of their own.
She told me a little about what inspired her to open Kaylan's Kitchen in Torrington, and spent some time talking about her full menu, the kind of conversation where you can tell someone has put real thought and care into every single item, not just one or two signature dishes. It is clear that becoming an incredible chef has been something Corey has worked at intentionally, across the entire menu, not something that just happened.
It is an honor to have an owner working this hard right in the middle of downtown Torrington. If you have not been to Kaylan's Kitchen yet, stop in, say hello to Corey, and see what she has built.
